Lingenfelder v. Wainwright Brewing Co.

The architect Jungenfeld contracted with the Wainwright Brewery Company to design and build a brewery. All went as planned until Jungenfeld, who happened to be the president of refrigeration company, was not also offered the refrigeration contract for the new brewery.

When he did not get the refrigeration contract, Jungenfelder stopped work on the brewery and refused to begin again until the brewery increased how much it was paying him for designing and building the brewery.

The amount of the increase Jungenfielder demanded was the profit he would have made on the refrigeration contract.
