De Cicco v. Schweizer

In 1902, Schweizer’s daughter Blanche was engaged to Count Oberto Gulinelli. Schweizer promised the daughter and the count that he would pay them $2500 if they married. Such promises we common at the time. They were known as marriage settlements. The couple married in 1902, and Schweizer made yearly payments until 1912, when he refused to make any more payments.
